 | January: Undeterred by lockdown restrictions the BWN members split into virtual teams and kicked off the New Year with a “Three Peaks Challenge”. Daily exchanges on Whatsapp provided contact and support (oh and a bit of competitiveness) giving us all a boost. |
 | February: Still unable to meet and snow on the ground our amazing coach Nic put together YouTube fitness videos to keep us all moving at home. |
 | March: Finally, on the 30th we returned to netball at Earls Colne. It was fantastic to be back together playing the sport we love. A bit rusty, but we are soon eased back into it. |
 | April: April 16th marked the 5th year anniversary of BWN. Elaine passed her Fitness Instructor and PT Diploma. Everyone applauded but was quietly nervous………..another crazy fit person ready to “help” the rest of us improve our fitness. |
 | May: A visit from Clear-Capture photography for some fantastic aerial shots on court. Pat perfects the breast stroke. |
 | June: Covid adaptations include a 4ft distance rule. Mandy brings a 4ft stick to illustrate how far this really is. Play was halted and the stick was waggled several times in the ensuing weeks. |
 | July: We congratulated Addie who qualified as a Level 1 netball coach. And we continue to reap the benefits in training sessions. |
 | August: Family Fun Day – Friends, partners and children join us for netball, rounders and cake. In rounders cries of “Run!” followed by tears of laughter as Forest Gump was put to shame. Making the most of the Summer, a fish & chips social evening in Mandy’s garden was enjoyed by all. Cheesy chips and mushy peas in abundance……… |
 | September: The ladies land in Stafford for a long-awaited tournament weekend. Re-united with Anni, our long distance member from a Bristol was a bonus. An amazing afternoon tea from our hosts, a stroll through the beautiful park, dinner together and a wander around town make for a perfect day. Then a hurried breakfast and dash to the tournament. A whole day of netball – what could be better? |
 | October: A surprise afternoon tea was arranged for Mandy’s special birthday. Our founding member, coach and master of one-handed netball. |
 | November: A team of 7 enter the Basildon Tournament and have a fun day. Playing consistently all day and a first tournament for some. The first AGM in a while was held. Roles were assigned, chocolates munched and most importantly, Carol brought a notebook. |
 | December: The Christmas Party in t’t pub was a lively evening of Karaoke, food and dancing. Our very own landlady Rebecca was the perfect host and the evening was full of smiles and laughter. |
Over the year we have celebrated the birth of grandchildren, special birthdays, new qualifications, jobs and retirements. As well as keeping active and playing netball, we’ve had a great year of friendship, support and laughter.
